The Friends of Valley Falls, Inc. is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) all volunteer organization. Organized in 1972, the FVF’s mission is to promote the betterment of Valley Falls Park and Valley Falls Farm. The area is considered the most scenic in Vernon, and is known as “Vernon’s Jewel”. It has a rich historical background, and is a popular recreational site.

Valley Falls Farm and Heritage Center, a 7-acre property at the corner of Bolton Road and Valley Falls Road in Vernon, is owned by the Friends. The property includes an historic 1850s farmhouse and 6 farm outbuildings which are part of a museum called The  Heritage Center. Valley Falls Park is a 196-acre public recreation area that is owned by the Town of Vernon. It is located on Valley Falls Road, directly across from Valley Falls Farm.

SPRING BIRD WALK  Sunday, May 4, at 7:30 am  Denise Animani will lead us on a walk through the trails and around the pond at Valley Falls Park on Sunday, May 4, at 7:30 AM…Denise will help us identify resident and migrating birds that inhabit the Park in spring, and provide details about their habits and songs.  The early morning hour provides more sightings, so bring your binoculars and bird apps!  See you there!  Meet at the pavilion, cancellation will be posted on our Facebook page.

HISTORY WALK  Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 am Don Sierakowski, ever popular history walk leader at FVF will lead a “Rocks, Rails and Industry” walk that explores the history and development of industry and railroads in the Valley Falls area.  Meet at the pavilion, rain cancellation notice will be posted on our FB page:  The Friends of Valley Falls, Inc., Vernon, CT, one hour before scheduled.

WILDFLOWER WALK Sunday, May 18, at 10:30 am  Carol Hatch will help us identify the many and varied wildflowers found on the trails at Valley Falls Park.  Bring phone plant apps and prepare for a WALK!  Cancellation due to weather  will be posted one hour before on our FB page: The Friends of Valley Falls, Inc., Vernon, CT. Meet at the pavilion in the Park.
